Creative Soul Sisters

Whether it be a partner in love, a creative soul sister, or a garage grease brother, having someone around who shares the same vision is an incredible feeling. This weekend I had the honour of being tasked with the decorations for my uncle and new aunts outdoor wedding at their beautiful homestead (though to be fair, I've been lovingly referring to her as my aunt for years now.)

If you've ever prepared or decorated for a wedding or a similar event, you know it's no quick or easy task. A lot of planning goes into selecting materials and realizing a vision. However, things are made significantly easier when you have a partner in crime who shares your creative vision. Someone who knows what needs to be done and can help you realize the final product without conflicting with what you're hoping to accomplish, without any real need for communication, and with complete creative harmony.

I am incredibly fortunate to find such a kindred crafter in my best friend. This wonderful woman was not only able to assist me in donning a beautiful weeping willow with decorative lilies (beneath which the bride and groom exchanged their vows), various bushes with ornate white roses, and a tent with perfectly placed balloons (thanks to all of the guys for helping out), but also picked up the slack when I was otherwise distracted and accomplished the balloon and streamers in an elegant way that was entirely wedding appropriate rather than the birthday look I fear someone else might have resorted to (for the non crafters out there, there is a very big difference between the two.)

If you're a bit of a creative control freak like I am (okay full disclosure, I'm a BIG control freak when it comes to my creative visions), you know that walking away and leaving someone else to decorate with no instructions is just not something you do without the utmost trust. That being said, that is exactly what I was able to do with this friend of mine and I can proudly say it was with absolutely no regret.

Now, I'm going to keep this post short and sweet because after a four day wedding extravaganza, this Rambler is officially tuckered out.

To my wonderful family, kudos, do we know how to party or what?! (an additional kudos to my other uncle who played the violin for the ceremony and accompanied by his friend/brother-in-law, played guitar for the reception) To my uncle, a sincere and heartfelt congratulations, words cannot convey how wonderful it is to see you this happy. To the bride, welcome to the family, you're an absolute gift to this family and we welcome you with open arms and love in our hearts (as well as gratitude that the new name is much easier to remember hehe.) To those who helped with all of the preparations, we did it! Now it's time to get some rest (Big shout out to mum who showed up a week early do get a head start!) And to my best friend, thank you-thank you- thank you! I could not have done it without you!

To all the bros and bras out there, whether a wedding is involved, a birthday, or an ordinary day, celebrate life, invest your emotions in it, live it to the fullest, and go out swinging. Life is short but those we surround ourselves with, the memories we create, make it the most valuable gift we have.

Cheers!
