My Heart's In Neverland

If you have children or have the opportunity to have them around you in your life, chances are you've watched them in amazement as they've found joy and thrills in things as simple as cardboard boxes or a few jingly keys. Some of you have maybe even envied them that carefree wonder that is often lost to us as the years progress. Some of you however, may be more like my friends and I who simply refuse to shed that sense of fun and joy found in the simple and childish things. "I wish I was that young again." We often hear this said in envy of the things we used to do as children, but why? I say, any age is the perfect age for the things we could be doing. Yes, I may not be as resilient as I use to be, I may not have the same never ending stamina children seem to have, but I am at an age where I feel I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I'm old enough to enjoy a night out dancing with my friends, and carefree enough to realize that the only thing stopping me a...

Family Ties

“We have three kinds of family. Those we are born to, those who are born to us, and those we let into our hearts” - Sherrilyn Kenyon   They may be biological, they may be adoptive, or they may be friends that you have deemed kin. Either way, they are family. They are those who care for and support you unconditionally, they are responsible for many a fond memory, and many a lesson learned. They give you a sense of home just as they love and accept the identity that is uniquely your own. ( The Giving of Thanks ) Recently, I've written a couple posts about maintaining friendships both by disconnecting from our devices when we are in the physical presence of friends ( Disconnect to Connect ) , and by using our resources to keep connected to those we are unable to spend time with in person ( Keeping Connected  and  Digital Distance Friends ). I have stressed the importance of maintaining our friendships but believe it is equally important to maintain our relatio...

A Very Zombie Valentines Day

The calendar is telling me that this weekend is Valentines so it is probably expected of me to write about love, and chocolates, and flowers, and jewelry, and all of the fancy stuff.... I could  write about all of that but if I'm being honest, I've never been one to really celebrate that particular holiday. Truth be told, I've only ever celebrated Valentines with a date once, eight years ago and only because he decided to surprise me after we had both agreed we didn't care much for the day and were not going to celebrate. Granted the homemade burgers and the cake he made were absolutely delicious and I still dream about those burgers, but why celebrate on a specific day when you could show the people you love how you feel every day? And let's face it, the internet is already going to be so full of either " Yay it's valentines! " lovey dovey's or " It's just a stupid corporate holiday! " nay sayers. So no, this post will...

3000 Views from... Dopplegangers?

I am incredibly excited to say that this week, and in under a year no less, The Bra Street Rambler reached 3000 views. There are times when I struggle to find the time, or a topic, to write a post about. Regardless of the blank stares at the monitor, or the 1 am typing sessions, those page views remind me that it's worth it. As long as there is even just one person still reading, I will keep trying to type out any funny story, perspective, or life lesson that I can get my brain and keyboard fingers communicating. If there are ever any suggestions or query's you Ramblers would like addressed, I certainly hope you will not hesitate to share. Not only would it mean a few less hairs pulled in writer's block frustration, but it would also allow me to have a better understanding of those wonderful people out there reading. I'm not ashamed to say I'm certainly curious to know more about all of you with my stats saying things like 3000 views across 35 countries! H...
