Go Fight!
The universe is not a Walmart for you to ask the things you want of it, it is an Ikea where assembly is required.
What I mean by this is, if there is something you want in this world, you have to be willing to work for it. You have to be willing to fight for it.
It is all too easy to create excuses as to why we cannot do something, but when we want something, we have to be willing to set those reasons aside and ask why not?
There are many problems that will arise, that will get in the way of your goals, but if you are willing to work for what you want, you will find just as many solutions.
Of course, committing yourself to a task, truly going for it, can be scary. After all, what if you give it all that you've got and all of your efforts are not enough? Well, here's where I quote yet another movie, albeit a cheesy chic flic "Never let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game." I loved this line from Cinderella Story but die hard baseball fans will recognize the words as being those of Babe Ruth.
In the end, wouldn't you rather play the game and try, than spend the rest of your life wondering what if? Wouldn't putting forth some genuine effort be better than always dreaming but never having? If you try, at least you stand a chance, but if you never put forth the work, never stand determined to seek out that which you desire, the result will always be the same; getting nowhere.
I think life is a lot like that high school crush. Yes, there's always the possibility of striking out, but there's also the possibility of that ability to beam a love stricken smile ten years down the road as you find yourself able to say you married your high school sweetheart all because you made a decision to give it a shot, to go for it.
If you want something, you have to try with everything you've got and hope for the best. No half-hearted attempts are going to leave you with the same satisfaction as knowing you worked hard and truly earned it.
Is there something that comes to mind as you read this? A dream or ambition perhaps? Is there something that you want but still haven't made yours? What's stopping you? What is standing in your way, and what is it that you need to accomplish in order to remove that obstacle.
Determine the obstacles, locate the solutions, and go for it! Life is far too short to confine ourselves to our own nay saying and self defeating excuses. Like I said, the universe works like an Ikea, you have to decide what you want and figure out where all the pieces go. Sometimes there are instructions, sometimes they're written in a foreign language, and sometimes you find you've misplaced them altogether, but if you put forth some time and effort, you can figure out the puzzle and end up with what was displayed on the box.
Now of course, this effort doesn't just apply to career ambitions and dreams of homesteads, they also apply to relationships. If you've read my previous posts, you'll know that I use the word relationships as a very general term referring to both friendships and romances.
Think about the oldest couple you know, the one that has been together the longest, or the friends who have known each other the longest. Do you think they haven't faced their fair share of difficulties? Chances are good that they have faced many obstacles, many disagreements and fights together but the one thing that has remained constant is their willingness to fight for each other, to work to keep their relationship going. The truth is, if we want a relationship, if we want it to stick around, we always have to work for it. The moment you stop working for it is the moment you are showing the other person you don't want it.

So there you have it, this Bra's ramble of the week. You want something? Go get it!
Cheers!
