Bulgaria

Hello there Rambler's!

Last week, I promised some highlights of my trip to Bulgaria and Romania.

Well let me tell you, Bulgaria is highly underrated. If you love the outdoors, then this is certainly a place worth visiting. The scenery had even me at a loss for words and if you know me, you know that's not exactly a common occurrence.

That being said, I believe my favourite parts about this country were having wonderful people take the time to teach me about the food and culture, as well as getting a chance to explore some caves as further research for my next book.

Those caves, my goodness, those caves. If ever you are in Bulgaria, I highly recommend taking the time to visit Prohodna Caves, as well as Magura caves. They are absolutely indescribable. Belogradchik rocks are also worth making a trip to see. Something else to be said about Belogradchik, I do believe this is where I met some of the nicest people in the country. They truly made my experience in Bulgaria. Both while dining out, and while hiking around the rock formations, I was greeted by new friends that I am sure to never forget. To the family I met out around the rocks by the horses, if you are reading this, please send me an email with your mailing address, I have not forgotten telling a certain little girl I'd write her letters! Nor have I forgotten the bouquet of flowers I was presented by her little brother.

And Ramblers? If you do happen to visit Belogradchik, there is an adorable little guest house called the Drakoni that I highly recommend. The owner is a very sweet man, and the guest house itself is the embodiment of charming and quaint in all of the best ways. I truly enjoyed my one night stay here and would gladly return.

Anyway, those are just a few highlights from Bulgaria. I'd tell you about Tarator which is a delicious creamy, cold cucumber soup, but any decent Bulgarian will acquaint you with it should you ever visit. Trust me, order some every chance you get. You won't regret it!

All in all, I would say Bulgaria was a great experience and most certainly did not leave me wanting for research and inspiration where my next book is concerned. I suspect that once I sit down for NaNoWriMo in November, people will be hard pressed to lure me from my computer. I can't wait to tell my characters story and I sincerely hope the wonderful people I had the pleasure of meeting in Bulgaria will approve.

Well Rambler's, I haven't been feeling very well so I'm going to have to turn in early tonight.  Unfortunately, the rest of the trip will have to wait as I have so very much to say about it.

Next week, on to Romania with an installment I do believe I shall name: The Hotel, the English, and the Antics!

Cheers!
